Learn moreThe padparadscha sapphire is a pink and orange stone, from the same family as other sapphires. It takes its name from a word meaning “color of the lotus” in Sinhalese. However, they are not exclusively saphirs de Ceylan. Deposits in Madagascar or Tanzania provide it, but the padparadscha from Sri Lanka is renowned for its exceptional quality.
Of unique beauty, padparadscha sapphires are rare, even more for unheated sapphires. Their weight is almost never greater than 2 carats. They are cut specifically to lose a minimum of material (like the cushion size). The meaning of padparadscha sapphire is associated with healing the spirit.
There is no strict consensus regarding color of a padparadscha sapphire, in the sense that the gems can have more or less pink or orange.
In any case, these are slightly or moderately saturated stones, of two colors which do not completely mix. Padparadscha tends to have orange and pink parts, as well as touches of yellow. It literally evokes a sunset in the tropics.
Stones are called peach sapphires. They look great, but don't have these different areas. The padparadscha is not a saphir orange in pink hues. It is also not a saphir rose which would contain shades of orange.
However, the saphirs de Madagascar padparadscha tend to be pinker and some raw padparadscha sapphires are more salmon pink.
Most of the time, a bague de fiançailles en saphir features a blue sapphire, but now, more and more, sapphires of other colors are popular. The same goes for the exceptional rings offered during sapphire weddings. On rings, the very original padparadscha sapphire is commonly surrounded by small diamonds. Alternatively, padparadscha sapphire rings have a diamond paved ring. Sometimes a padparadscha is also set between two diamonds. This type of atypical colored sapphire is a good option for a 10th wedding anniversary ring or another decade.
The diamonds provide a superb contrast to the softness of the padparadscha sapphires. The Bonnot house allows you to choose each stone of your ring, to be created in white or yellow gold. Although less used, rose gold is a possibility for a padparadscha sapphire ring. After all, the choice of gold is up to you, as is the design of your unique ring.
As an expert gemologist working without an intermediary, Bonnot Paris knows the origin of a padparadscha sapphire offered for purchase, which is also systematically sold with a certificate of authenticity.
You have to be demanding for buy a padparadscha sapphire, especially if you are looking for authenticity, that is to say no synthetic treatment. Treated orange-pink sapphires are sold under this name. And determining what a “real” padparadscha is based on its nuances is sometimes subjective.
THEpadparadscha sapphire price(heated but untreated) is higher than many other sapphires. For the same number of carats, these are commonly more expensive stones than blue sapphire, which can cost more than €10,000. A fine Ceylon padparadscha commands a higher price than many diamonds or rubies. You may, however, see price variations, for example depending on color, especially crucial for padparadscha, clarity (purity) and cut quality.
