A peach sapphire is a natural sapphire whose colour sits between gentle pink and warm orange, evoking the shade of the fruit. It is prized for its softness and luminous brilliance, and is increasingly sought after for romantic jewellery.
Its hue comes from traces of elements such as iron and, at times, chrome present within the crystal. Intensity ranges from a pale, powdery peach to deeper, almost apricot tones.
Yes. Like all sapphires, it registers 9 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond. It is one of the most durable stones available, making it ideal for everyday wear, including as an engagement ring.
The padparadscha is an extremely rare pink-orange sapphire governed by strict criteria among specialists. The peach sapphire, more accessible, offers similar tones but without the stringent requirements — or the price — of a true padparadscha.
