At Bonnot Paris, traceability lies at the heart of our commitment to our clients. The more precise the information we obtain, and the earlier we intervene in the supply chain, the more fully we can guarantee the traceability of our precious stones. Working directly with mines allows us to certify the exact origin of each stone — a crucial step in ensuring its authenticity and provenance.
For a tourmaline, for instance, we commit to providing precise information about its origin, specifying not only the country but also the region of extraction. Whether it is a tourmaline from Tanzania, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria or Mozambique, we strive to give the most accurate location possible.
When we work with brokers, we ensure that this detailed information is obtained and passed on to our clients. Equally, when sourcing from the principal cutting centres, we systematically require information on the origin of each stone and carefully select our partners so as to eliminate any ambiguity regarding provenance.
For certain stones, we call upon certification laboratories to confirm their origin. This is a well-established practice at Bonnot Paris. On occasion, we provide laboratories with additional evidence to help correct and refine their traceability models, drawing on our in-depth knowledge and our own field investigations.
