Yes. Garnet rates 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale depending on the variety, making it well suited to regular wear. Slightly softer than sapphire, it benefits from a setting designed with protection in mind — such as a bezel or wraparound prongs — which we tailor to each individual piece.
Garnet is one of the most varied stone families. Beyond the deep garnet red of the almandine, there is the raspberry-pink rhodolite, the mandarin-orange spessartite, and the most sought-after green garnets: tsavorite and demantoid. Each shade gives a ring its own entirely distinct character.
The price depends on the garnet variety (a tsavorite is considerably rarer than an almandine), the carat weight, the choice of metal (18-carat gold or platinum) and any diamond pavé. As every piece is made to order, we provide a precise quote once the stone has been chosen.
Ruby is harder and rarer, and therefore significantly more expensive. Garnet offers reds every bit as intense, along with a range of colours that ruby cannot match, at a more accessible price point — a compelling choice for a stone with real character.
Yes — it is at the heart of what we do. We source and present the stone, then work with you to design the setting before it goes into production. From the moment a stone is chosen to the delivery of the finished ring, the process typically takes a few weeks.
A gentle clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush is all that is needed. Avoid knocks, chemical products and ultrasonic cleaners, and store the ring separately to protect both the stone and the setting.
