Yes. With a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale and excellent brilliance, tsavorite stands up very well to daily wear. As with any fine jewel, it is simply worth avoiding direct knocks.
Both offer an intense green, but tsavorite is more brilliant, rarer, and — crucially — never treated, whereas emerald is almost always oiled. At comparable quality, tsavorite is also often more accessible in price.
No. Unlike most coloured stones, tsavorite undergoes no heat, no oiling and no resin filling: its colour is 100% natural. This is one of its greatest strengths.
Discovered in 1967 near Tsavo National Park in Kenya, tsavorite is found almost exclusively in Kenya and Tanzania. Bonnot Paris sources it directly, with no intermediaries.
Price depends primarily on the intensity of the green and the carat weight: stones above 2 carats are rare and command a higher price. As every ring is made to order, we provide a precise quote based on the chosen stone and design.
