The sapphire is the most historically significant engagement stone in Western tradition. A symbol of fidelity and wisdom since Antiquity, it has sealed the unions of European royal families — from Napoleon to Joséphine, through to Lady Diana’s ring, which Prince William used to propose to Kate Middleton. Practically speaking, it is the second hardest stone in the world after diamond (9 on the Mohs scale), making it perfectly suited to daily wear over many decades without risk of scratching or damage. Its gemmological distinction: for an equivalent budget, a sapphire offers a more generous, more colourful centre stone than a diamond.
Sapphire is celebrated for its deep blue hues, but it occurs naturally in a remarkable range of colours.
At Bonnot Paris, we offer the following sapphires for a truly unique engagement ring:
Each colour carries its own symbolism and unique character.
Every bespoke creation begins with a personal consultation — in Paris, in Angers, or via video call — to understand your wishes, your story and your budget.
Our experts guide you through the selection of stones and the development of your jewellery design.
Our designers then produce several sketches to help you visualise the piece.
Once the stones and design have been approved, our master jewellers craft your creation by hand in our ateliers, to the highest standards of excellence of Maison Bonnot Paris.

Yes, all our stones are certified by renowned laboratories including Bellerophon, ICA GemLab, London Gem Lab, and others, guaranteeing their authenticity and exceptional quality.

Delivery is made in person in Paris or via a specialist courier, ensuring your order reaches you in a secure, insured and fully reliable manner.

Lead times depend on the complexity of the piece, but you should generally allow between 4 and 8 weeks from approval of the final design.
Thanks to our offices in India, Sri Lanka and Bangkok, close to the markets and the mines, we take the time needed to select the ideal stone, perfectly aligned with your expectations.

Yes, Bonnot Paris offers a recycling and transformation service for your jewellery.
We can reuse the gold from your existing pieces to give it a new life, in a jewel designed especially for you.

We work with many clients across France and internationally.
We begin with a video call to understand your wishes, expectations and project.
From there, a personalised follow-up is provided via WhatsApp or email to guide you at every stage.
We send you detailed photos and videos of the selected stones (or jewellery), so you can feel fully confident in your choice.
You are also welcome to share your inspirations, questions or doubts with us at any time — by message or image — and we remain attentive to you throughout the entire creation process.

Our creations start at around €2,500, with the heart of the collection sitting between €4,500 and €12,000. The price is determined first by the sapphire — carat weight, colour and origin — then by the setting: metal, diamond surround and complexity of the mount. Selecting every stone directly at source allows us to direct your budget towards the sapphire itself.
Yes — it is in fact one of the finest stones for exactly that purpose. With a hardness of 9 out of 10, second only to diamond, sapphire resists everyday scratches. A well-considered setting accompanies it for life; our atelier checks it every time you entrust your ring to us.
