A retail jeweller sells designs. The setting exists before the gemstone, and the gemstone is ordered from a wholesaler to fit the design. It is efficient, entirely legitimate, and produces very fine jewellery.

A dealer works the other way around. They buy stones in their markets of origin — for us, Sri Lanka for sapphires, Bangkok for rubies and tourmalines, Jaipur for Zambian emeralds — and build their own stock. The design comes afterwards, around the actual dimensions of the chosen stone.

Appointments are held by appointment only —the Angers address is provided upon booking. Allow around forty-five minutes; there is no obligation.

The process is always the same. We first discuss budget, tastes and wearing constraints—manual work, sport, whether or not the ring will be worn every day. Then we bring out the stones. This is the moment that matters : two gems placed side by side under the same light settle in three minutes what no photograph could have resolved in three weeks.

In practical terms, a teal sapphire engagement ring is created within the most extensive family in our catalogue — this is where the selection is widest. A padparadscha sapphire engagement ring requires more patience: the designation is regulated, so availability is necessarily limited.

An emerald engagement ring takes shape alongside its protection — more than for any other stone, the setting is part of the jewellery’s security. As for a ruby engagement ring, it is our narrowest family: ruby is the rarest of the four major gemstones above two carats, and we hold only a limited selection.

It is worth being clear about one point, because many houses maintain ambiguity: the ring is not made in Angers. Sourcing and design are carried out in Paris, while production is entrusted to specialist artisans in France and Italy — seventeen artisans are involved, according to the techniques required by the piece.

Angers is a meeting place : it is there that you see the stones, compare them under the same light, and decide on the project. It is the most important stage, and the only one that cannot be delegated.

Three ways to begin a project, none of which is inferior to the others.

In Angers, by appointment, with the address provided upon booking. In Paris, at the showroom at 40 rue des Mathurins, in the 8^th arrondissement. By video appointment finally, with follow-up via WhatsApp or email until the jewellery is handed over.

Remotely, the process is well established: each stone is filmed under several lighting conditions, on a neutral hand and with no colour retouching whatsoever. You receive the videos and full specifications before making any commitment. The ring is then handed over in person or sent by secure, insured carrier.
