Elina’s brief

Elina contacted us to create a bespoke birthday ring featuring one of our favourite stones. She was looking for an exceptional, unheated sapphire with distinctive colours, in a refined and luminous creation. Furthermore, the setting had to enhance the centre stone while revealing the unique play of colour of the bicolour sapphire. Our atelier therefore designed a minimalist piece that brings out the stone’s chromatic singularity.

The 1.66-carat bicolour sapphire

The centre sapphire weighs 1.66 carats and comes from Madagascar. Indeed, this stone is unheated, which is a major asset in today’s high jewellery market. Its distinctive feature lies in its bicolour nature, combining blue-green and yellow-green areas within a single stone. Moreover, its hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale guarantees excellent resistance to daily wear. The unheated bicolour sapphire remains one of the rarest and most sought-after varieties among lovers of unusual gemstones.

The bicolour sapphire ring in detail

This bicolour sapphire ring features a centrally positioned cushion-cut stone set with prongs. For example, a pavé of natural round F/VS-quality diamonds adorns the band on either side of the stone. F/VS diamonds represent one of the highest qualities on the market, combining exceptional whiteness with remarkable clarity. In addition, the platinum 900 setting provides a luminous, neutral showcase that enhances the stone’s blue-green and yellow-green nuances. The result creates a perfect balance between contemporary simplicity and chromatic singularity.
