Grégory’s brief

Grégory contacted us to create a bespoke anniversary ring featuring a rare, luminous stone. He was looking for an exceptional, unheated red spinel, set in an architectural and original creation. In addition, the setting had to enhance the central stone with an unexpected structure that makes it appear to float. Our workshop therefore designed a bold double-band design highlighting the stone’s exclusive character.

The 1.61-carat red spinel

The central red spinel weighs 1.61 carats and comes from Tanzania, one of the most sought-after origins for this gemstone. Indeed, this spinel is unheated, which is a major asset in today’s high jewellery market. Its unique colour combines an intense, vibrant red that rivals the finest rubies. Furthermore, its hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale ensures excellent resistance to daily wear. Unheated red spinel remains one of the most sought-after varieties among collectors and discerning enthusiasts.

The red spinel ring in detail

This red spinel ring features a centrally positioned cushion-cut stone in a bezel setting. For example, the band adopts an original double-shank structure that frames the stone in an architectural casket effect. This refined construction leaves centre stage to the stone and accentuates its presence without competing with it. In addition, the 750/000 yellow gold setting echoes the warmth of the stone and enhances its deep red brilliance. The result creates a perfect balance between contemporary design and gemological rarity.
