Unheated Mozambique ruby yellow gold lace ring for our client
The unheated Mozambique ruby yellow gold lace ring created for our client illustrates Bonnot Paris’s bespoke expertise. This creation showcases a 1.22-carat oval ruby from Mozambique, guaranteed unheated, set in a wide band inspired by openwork lace. Moreover, this piece reflects our expertise in high jewellery settings. It thus demonstrates our exacting standards for untreated natural gemstones.
Our client contacted us to create an exceptional anniversary ring centred around an unheated ruby. She was looking for a heirloom piece with an opulent design, halfway between vintage inspiration and floral lace. In addition, the setting had to orchestrate a striking contrast between the ruby’s deep red brilliance and the diamond-like luminosity of the band. Our workshop therefore designed a wide openwork lace-style band, entirely pavé-set with F/VS diamonds and structured by yellow gold floral motifs.
The 1.22-carat unheated Mozambique ruby
The central ruby comes from Mozambique, which has become the world’s leading source of rubies in both volume and quality since the discovery of the Montepuez deposits in 2009. Indeed, its unheated guarantee is a decisive premium asset: the majority of rubies on the market undergo heat treatment to intensify their colour, making unheated rubies particularly sought after. Its unique colour combines a deep, luminous red characteristic of the finest stones from this region, in line with the “pigeon blood” hues historically associated with Burmese rubies. Furthermore, its 1.22-carat weight represents a premium size for this rare gemstone. The ruby’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale ensures excellent resistance to daily wear over decades.
The unheated Mozambique ruby yellow gold lace ring in detail
This unheated Mozambique ruby yellow gold lace ring features a wide-band architecture inspired by floral lace. For example, the central oval ruby is claw-set in a central position, framed by a wide openwork band in which yellow gold floral motifs intertwine with F/VS diamond pavé. The F/VS diamonds provide a sparkling brilliance that enhances the ruby’s red radiance and visually structures the band. In addition, the 750/000 yellow gold setting echoes the luminous warmth of the metal and enhances the stone’s red depth. The ensemble thus creates a perfect balance between heirloom opulence and openwork architecture.
