Jannick’s Brief

Jannick contacted us to create an exceptional birthday ring celebrating a precious moment. Particular emphasis was placed on the quest for the perfect stone: after several weeks of research, we sourced an unheated cornflower blue sapphire with no visible inclusions. Furthermore, the design had to be understated and architectural, allowing the stone to take centre stage without competing with it. Our workshop therefore designed a sculptural setting with arched shoulders that embrace the stone in a minimalist showcase.

The central blue sapphire belongs to the cornflower category, the historically most coveted cornflower-blue hue among sapphires. Indeed, its unheated status is a decisive premium attribute: the majority of sapphires on the market undergo heat treatment to intensify their colour, making unheated cornflower stones particularly sought-after. Its colour evokes the cornflower blossom, soft and luminous, without excessive darkening. Moreover, its remarkable clarity, with no visible inclusions, further adds to its rarity. Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale ensures excellent resistance to daily wear over decades.

This cornflower blue sapphire and rose gold ring features a distinctive architecture. For example, the oval sapphire is centrally set in a semi-bezel setting and flanked by arched sculptural rose gold shoulders.
