The brief

Our client approached us to design an engagement ring featuring a rare and precious stone, with an ethical approach. He was looking for an exceptional padparadscha sapphire, set in a floral creation in recycled gold. Furthermore, the setting had to enhance the centre stone within a harmonious and luminous diamond surround. Our workshop therefore created a botanical design combining romance and responsible commitment.

The 1.7-carat padparadscha sapphire

The central padparadscha sapphire weighs 1.7 carats and displays a pinkish-orange colour characteristic of this rare variety. Indeed, padparadscha is one of the rarest sapphire varieties in the world, its name meaning “lotus flower” in Sinhalese. Its unique colour blends shades of pink and orange, evoking a sunset. Moreover, its hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale ensures excellent resistance to everyday wear. The padparadscha sapphire remains one of the most sought-after stones among collectors and high jewellery enthusiasts.

This recycled rose gold padparadscha sapphire ring features a centrally positioned oval-cut stone set with claws. For example, a floral arrangement of round and marquise-cut F/VS diamonds surrounds the main stone. F/VS diamonds represent one of the highest qualities on the market, combining exceptional whiteness with remarkable clarity. In addition, the recycled 750/000 rose gold setting echoes the stone’s pinkish-orange tones and reflects an ethical approach. The whole thus creates a perfect balance between floral romance and responsible commitment.
