Killian’s brief

Killian contacted us to create a timeless engagement ring celebrating delicacy and refinement. He was looking for a distinctive stone in a rare hue and a setting with the classic codes of high jewellery. Furthermore, the setting had to enhance the stone in a diamond surround while retaining a delicate, feminine band. Thus, our workshop designed a classic cushion halo in which the green sapphire is bezel-set at the centre of a surround of round diamonds arranged in a rounded square crown.

The Madagascar green sapphire

The central green sapphire comes from Madagascar, one of the most prestigious origins for this rare variety of fancy sapphire. Indeed, since the 1990s, Madagascar has become one of the world’s leading sources of fancy sapphires, particularly in green, teal and pink shades. Its unique colour combines a fresh, luminous green that clearly distinguishes it from teal sapphires and classic blue sapphires. Moreover, its cushion cut gives it a generous visual presence on the finger. The sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale ensures excellent resistance to daily wear over decades.

This yellow gold cushion halo green sapphire ring features a particularly elegant classic halo architecture. For example, the cushion-cut green sapphire is bezel-set in the centre, framed by a halo of round diamonds arranged in a crown. The band features sculpted shoulders that add volume without weighing down the silhouette. The F/VS diamonds provide a sparkling brilliance that enhances the green radiance of the sapphire. In addition, the 750/000 yellow gold setting echoes the luminous warmth of the metal and enhances the freshness of the stone’s green. Thus, the whole creates a perfect balance between classic reference and contemporary delicacy.
